Felipe Suarez Castro

I am particularly interested in using the knowledge of ecological functioning in conservation and environmental management planning. I hold a Master’s degree in conservation and wildlife management, and I have worked on habitat characterizations and wildlife inventories in various regions of my home country, Colombia. This experience has allowed me to contribute to the knowledge of the taxonomy, ecology, and distribution of some Neotropical mammal species. My research interests include the following areas: species distribution patterns, landscape ecology and functional ecology. Now, I am looking for developing a predictive model to quantify the effects of landscape structure on the relationship between species diversity and functional diversity. This model will help to elucidate how different landscape configurations help to meet biodiversity conservation objectives when ecosystem functions are explicitly incorporated.
